Meaningful Beauty

Meaningful Beauty

Meaningful Beauty has the star power of supermodel Cindy Crawford and the formula of French anti-aging specialist Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh. An eight-piece skin care system, Meaningful Beauty has a product for you from the time you wake up in the morning to when you lay your head down on your pillow at night.

Boasting an eye cream, a facial cleanser, a day cream, a night cream, a cleansing mask, a glowing serum, a décolleté cream, and wrinkle-smoothing capsules, Meaningful Beauty seems to have it all.

But we want to look through the shroud of celebrity endorsement and find out what’s really behind Meaningful Beauty. Here, you’ll find a sampling of Meaningful Beauty ingredients, an overview of customer response, and a list of pros and cons about Cindy Crawford’s own skin care line.

Meaningful Beauty Specifications

Meaningful Beauty says that its skin care lineup operates on a five-step process: cleanse, protect, repair, revitalize, and purify. To figure out how Meaningful Beauty intends to meet those goals, we’ll look at a few of the most powerful ingredients in the system.

Charantia Melon Extract is the pride of the Meaningful Beauty lineup. Included in almost every product in this system, the extract comes from a melon grown only in the south of France. Meaningful beauty claims the extract has anti-oxidant properties that help moisturize and protect the skin, as well as naturally boost levels of collagen production.
Laureth sulfate is a detergent that is commonly found in soaps. A foaming agent, laureth sulfate cleanses the skin, but has also been identified as an irritant.
Cetyl alcohol, a fatty alcohol with a history of use in cosmetics, helps to moisturize the skin. However, it also has a history of worsening eczema.
Lipoic Acid is another anti-oxidant contained in a few of Meaningful Beauty’s products. Shown to reduce puffiness around the eyes and promote skin cell health, lipoic acid has also been noted for its ability to give added luster to the skin.
Soy protein is a group of proteins designed to lock in moisture, boost collagen, and prevent wrinkles from forming.

What We Like About Meaningful Beauty

Meaningful Beauty has been around since 1988 and currently holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, which gives confidence to the consumer.

Meaningful Beauty is also a complete skin care system, which we like because it means you won’t have to run around trying to find a different product for your every need.

We also like that the company offers a full refund if you decide you’re unsatisfied with the product, which you can claim even if all of the bottles are empty.

What We Dislike About Meaningful Beauty

Despite its high BBB rating, Meaningful Beauty has a lot of baggage attached to its brand. Customer reviews reveal that Meaningful Beauty contains moderately harsh ingredients that have led to breakouts, burning skin, and even scabbing in the most severe cases.

Meaningful Beauty also has a complicated automatic refill and billing system. When a customer signs up for the system at $39.95, she is also agreeing to a quarterly shipment of Meaningful Beauty and an automatic charge to her credit card.

We’re also not overly impressed with Meaningful Beauty’s ingredients. While many have been shown to work, they are overall somewhat harsh and are included in mostly lower-end skin care products.

Overall Impression

Meaningful Beauty is great as a basic skin care system, provided you don’t have sensitive skin. While the ingredients don’t put it on the high end of cosmetic supplies, it will probably work effectively.

However, if you have sensitive skin or are dismayed by the negative customer reviews and billing system, you may want to shop elsewhere for a “do it all” skin care line.
